Founded in 2011 by Andrew Tinning and Drew Ridley, SHEDcsc is a unique creative and strategic coalition based here in Perth.

(Hence the little csc bit next to the big SHED bit in our logo).

SHEDcsc has two distinct meanings which are both of equal significance.

The first being:

Even though we grew up a few years and a few thousand kilometres apart, we had one thing in common.

The Sunday roast.

Every second weekend, we'd be dragged along to our Grandparents for a slab of protein served with a mound of veggies and a side of conversation with aunties, uncles and cousins.

Our Nanas were great – soft as butter with hearts as golden.

Our Granddads on the other hand were grumpy old buggers. All those years as a Prison Warden/Italian Police Officer had hardened them both like nuts. They never had that much to do with us kids, however beneath those brittle shells were very creative men. You could tell by the detail in their gardens and in particular what resided at the end of them.

The shed!

As soon as we'd cleaned our plates of every last scrap, we were allowed to flee the table and make a beeline down the path to the Kiwi/Aussie bloke's version of Aladdin's cave.

Along the shelves that lined the walls were boxes full of hinges, hooks and latches. Squeezed between them were dozens of jam and marmite/vegemite jars overflowing with nails, screws, rivets, nuts, bolts and washers of every shape and size.

Above the workbench were rows of tools. Handsaws, box saws, hacksaws, hammers, vice grips, drills, spirit levels, spanners, wrenches, screwdrivers, chisels and loads more. It was every kid's dream come true.

Whatever you could think of, there was everything you needed to have a go at building it. And build and build and build we did. We'd spend hours in those respective sheds, working together, having fun and being creative.

The only limits were our imaginations and of course our Mums who would eventually come and drag us away, covered in saw dust – until the next time!

Which brings us to this day and the second significant meaning.

SHED
  1. To get rid of something that is not wanted or is no longer necessary. The company shed a further 250 jobs this month.
  2. To let something fall off as part of a natural process.Deciduous trees shed their leaves each autumn.

To us, this means shedding unnecessary layers.

Between the two of us, we have over 40 years experience in the ad game and we've seen some amazing changes at the hands of technology.

We can be on different sides of the city, country and even the world, yet still remain as connected as if we were just down the corridor.

These days everything is at your fingertips as long as they are within reach of a keyboard or touch screen.

How we do things might be dramatically different, but what we do is fundamentally the same.

We help our clients sell their products and services and assist them in building their brands. And we do it through smart strategic planning and creative thinking that connects with their customers.

The other constant is the kind of people it takes to produce the 'really good goods'.

Agencies are full of clever individuals. But why do they have to be the same people working in the same building every day?

Why not have a diverse range of highly skilled and highly credentialed independents brought together as unified teams under the leadership of SHEDcsc.

Whether it's for a project that lasts a few days, a few weeks or a few months, the objective would remain the same:

TO PRODUCE BOLD IDEAS
FOR BRAVE CLIENTS

That's the thinking behind SHEDcsc. A creative hub where the focus is on results and collaboration is the key to everyone's success.

By keeping it lean and in the hands of a small team of key individuals, we can achieve the same continuity and control a traditional agency has to offer. However, it won't be within four very big and very expensive walls.

It reminds us of our Granddad's sheds. As long as you have the right tools at your disposal and the right people to work with, you can make anything happen and build anything you want.

While having fun being creative and successful together.
